The life and soul of the party, a friend and hero to those who knew him, an amazing, funny and kind man who had the knack of making friends wherever he went.

If I could write the story of dad, it would be the greatest ever told, Of a kind and loving gentleman, who had the biggest heart of gold. Here I will tell his story, which will be rose tinted of course, As Dad’s version of his story was from his biased source!
1948 was a glorious year, It saw the arrival of our daddy dear, He was the second child that Mary bore, And he was the quietest and most sensible one, he always swore!

Seemingly, mum met dad at his engagement party to another! We were all so shocked, as we thought you were an angel mother. So now I have told you, you all will now know, That if it had been in this day, they would have been on the Jeremy Kyle show!

Mum and dad have been happily married for golden years plus two, They had three children, five grandchildren, and dogs, more than a few! They created a home full of warmth, joy and laughter, And wonderful memories which will live on hereafter.

I could write a million verses, but still be unable to say, Just how much he meant to all of us, and for all he did every day. Dad never looked for praise, and he never needed to boast, He just quietly turned up, and helped those he loved the most.

Dad was a gardener, he grew with his heart, He fed, watered and cared for them, to give them the best start, Like his plants, his lovingly raised his children to be the best they could be, And he we all sit, his children and grandchildren, all his legacy!

Dad was always there, our rock, through all our storms of life, He held our hands and guided us through every trouble and strife, We relied on your daily hard work, your dedication, and loving care, We now will remember all the love, fun, and thoughts that we used to share.
We will not remember how he died, but how he lived Not what Dad gained, but everything he did give, He gained the love, friendship and respect of all he did meet, And that shows here now, with not one empty seat.

We will remember the good times and try not to be sad,
We will remember the man, our wonderful Dad,
We will miss you more than anyone can express,
But hear us Dad, our love for you will never grow less.
I will finish with the words of the traditional Irish blessing that dad loved:
May the road rise up to meet you dad.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine be warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Your Dad was a proper gentleman, who would help anyone who needed it, he had the ability to bring a smile to everyone, a man in a million, he will be sorely missed. Goodnight, Godbless Jack xx. Roy Pilkington

Burrows was a top boss, bloke and a pillar of the community, a huge loss to all he knew. Luke Simpson

Jack was my first boss, Jack was more like a grandad than a boss, I adored working alongside Jack. He was one of the funniest and kindest, a true star. I’m so sad, the world has lost one of the best. Steph Hartley

Massive loss. He made me smile every time I saw him. Top man. Will be missed by many. Lovely bloke Adam Allison

Jack was the best boss I could have asked for. He treated us all like family and made us laugh every single shift. Jack is the only person who could get away with making such funny and questionable comments to people. He really did have a heart of gold and a brilliant sense of humour. Amy Danielle
